About Me
My name is Steve Paciorka, and I am running for the position of Leelanau County Probate Judge. Our current Probate Judge, Judge Marian Kromkowski, is retiring in 2024.
I grew up the son of a firefighter from whom I learned the value of dedication to service.
I currently preside as a judicial officer over part of the Circuit Court's domestic and juvenile docket, making recommendations for the Judges. This experience has helped prepare me to be Leelanau County Probate Court Judge. The Probate Court is unique in that almost everything it does has to do with people who are experiencing some level of vulnerability and need for support. I want to ensure that the people who come before our Probate Court receive that support, and are treated with the utmost empathy and professionalism.

I have always enjoyed jobs where I was able to help people—first as a teacher, and later as an attorney dealing with family-law related issues in courts throughout Northern Michigan. I chose this area of the law because I believe these cases touch the most lives, in the most meaningful ways. This belief has been reinforced by every case I have worked on, both in private practice and in my current position as Juvenile and Domestic Court Referee for Leelanau, Antrim, and Grand Traverse Counties.
My wife Jennifer and I have a son who graduated from Leland and is now attending the University of Michigan, and a daughter who is currently a Sophomore at Leland. Jennifer is a teacher at Leland, and her family has enjoyed ties to Leelanau County for four generations. We moved to Leelanau in 2009 and have made Northport our home since then. I would be honored to serve our community in this new capacity.
